“Plinko is my favorite design team, bar none. They’re consummate professionals, excellent designers, and extremely witty. The intelligence they bring to any project is what — I guess I’m starting to sound like a brochure but still it’s true — sets them apart. Their dog Bruno is bizarre, though. Breathes like a fish caught on dry land.”- Dave Eggers, McSweeney’s Books
Each book in this series is 64 pages of absurdity, detailing the research of the elusive Dr. & Mr. Haggis-On-Whey. Written by Dave and Toph Eggers, the books are a tribute to the science textbooks of the mid-1950s, filled with charts, graphs, and bizarre illustrations.
Plinko designed the first three books of the series, and the books have gone on to have a strong cult following. Design highlights include a faux-leather cover, a series of giraffe trading cards, and an elaborate fold-out poster. The books were the recepient of a 2005 AIGA award for outstanding book design.
